In line with the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 proposed by the United Nations, the American Federation of Associations against Road Violence joins the global movement in memory of road traffic victims. The National Network of Relatives of Road Traffic Victims in Uruguay observes this Sunday, 20^thNovember, in the city of Minas, Lavalleja, as a means to raise society’s awareness, demystifying the belief that “It will not happen to me”.

The gathering will start at 5 pm in the Plaza Libertad, to march to the Rambla, where bells will ring, sirens will sound, testimonies will be heard and balloons  will be released in memory of all the people who have become casualties in road traffic.

Memory forms a primary tool for performing work in pursuit of the prevention of road traffic deaths and injuries, of changing habits of thinking and acting, and of safeguarding ones own life and that of our loved ones.

The Gonzalo Rodriguez Foundation firmly believes that all members of society must act to prevent the global catastrophe of traffic accidents and is calling for creating a culture of road safety, with respect and civic values and demanding an institutional commitment. We are all responsible to take care of life.
