Advocacy materials to share

The Brussels NGO Declaration, launched in November 2009, is a very strong advocacy tool for NGOs – the 33 recommendations to governments for the Decade of Action for Road Safety were agreed and signed by 70 NGOs from 40 countries and deserve therefore to be treated seriously. All NGOs, and especially those who contributed to the Declaration and signed it, should lobby their governments to address the demands listed in their unique document.
Regarding other advocacy materials – we hope that all those whose work involves minimizing road trauma and reducing road danger & road casualties will send examples of helpful materials from their organizations and countries, to share with everyone.
Please share with us your advocacy materials, by sending them to info@worlddayofremembrance.org
We will then add them to our Advocacy Materials page, under your continent, as well as via the flags on this page.

In May 2009, more than 100 representatives of 70 NGOs from 40 countries came together for the first time in Brussels at a meeting hosted by the World Health Organization. Using their unique expertise and perspective, participants compiled 33 recommendations to governments to improve road safety.

Their passion is reflected in the words by Olanrewaju Osho from Safety Alliance, Nigeria, one of the 70 NGO signatories of the ‘Brussels Declaration’:      “Change doesn’t just happen, it is propelled by men and women whose spirits are provoked and inspired to  make a difference.”
