This year activities in Slovenia will be held under a slogan »Naj bodo naše ceste varne«.

In Slovenia, the main happening connected with the World Remembrance Day will be the opening ceremony of a Road Traffic Victims Memorial in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, which will be held on the 13th of November at 11.00 am at the central cemetery Žale.

Another main event to commemorate victims of road traffic accidents will start with a church service and mass in memory of road traffic victims in Ljubljana and will continue in the evening of November 16th – in a cultural hall (Red Hall) inside the City Hall of Ljubljana. On that occasion one of the ambassadors of Zavod Varna pot Mrs. Damijana Žišt will introduce her book “Nevidni svet žrtev prometnih nereč’’ (“The Invisible world of road traffic victims”) in which she has gathered different stories told by road traffic victims. There will be music and speeches and a symbolic lighting of candles.

All towns and cities in Slovenia, relevant Government departments and NGOs are invited to participate in the observance of the World Day.

Other activities connected with the World Day and the national memorial will take place in different towns and cities in Slovenia:

press conference in Ljubljana;

posters;

brochures;

invitations to active participation in all activities to: local communities, the president of Slovenia, responsible Representatives of the Government, Members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, diplomats, religious leaders, media, ect.).

speeches of people responsible for road safety in communities, representatives of road accident victims, representatives of public, cultural, political and religious life, representatives of police, health and emergency workers, firefighters, local Road Safety Councils, Association of Professional Drivers and Mechanics, local Automobile Association of Slovenia and other organizations;

different recitals;

youth workshops regarding road safety, etc.

We want to mark this year’s World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims as “a day without any traffic accidents.”
