The Irish Road Victims’ Association (IRVA) will hold a special candlelit ceremony in Belvedere House & Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on Sunday 17th November @ 2.30pm. The Youth Orchestra will perform along with Soprano Helen Hassett and Soloists John Smyth and Noel O’Farrell. We will light candles in memory of our lost relatives and friends and gather in our Memorial Garden for Road Victims. There, at IRVA’s Memorial tree and bench, we will release chinese lanterns and balloons in memory of all of those who have lost their lives on our roads, and as a sign of hope for the future safety of our road users. Admission to this event is free & parking is available onsite.
On Thursday, 24th October, seven members of 2 Artillery Regiment, who are also members of the Irish Road Victims’ Association, walked for 40 miles while pulling with drag ropes a hospital trolley with full body mannequin. They did this to remember all those who had lost their lives on our roads, which included some of their army colleagues, while also raising awareness of the dangers on our roads and publicizing the World Day of Remembrance. They started out at Custume Barracks in Athlone and finished up at IRVA’s Memorial Garden for Road Traffic Victims in Belvedere House & Gardens, Mullingar,Co. Westmeath, Ireland.
