The Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads together with the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (with the generous support of local and international donor organizations and the UN representation in Georgia) is holding an event dedicated to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims at Europe House on November 14/Friday/12:00.
This day is celebrated annually worldwide in order to commemorate road traffic victims and to raise public awareness on the importance of road safety.
To mark this day we are organizing a Conference at Europe House/Tbilisi, where we are inviting Mayor of Tbilisi. main Ministry representatives (Ministry of Roads and Infrastructure, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia), private sector representatives, civil society experts, donor and partner organizations, Diplomatic Corp and media representatives.
Ambassadors of the SUNflower countries –
(abbreviation from the first letters of those 3 countries:
S-weden U-nited Kingdom N-etherlands) as well as Estonian Ambassador to Georgia H.E. Mr. Priit Turk will attend the meeting.
According to the world research the road safety policies in the Netherlands, Great Britain, and Sweden have resulted in them having the smallest numbers of road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in the world,
that’s why they are in the top 3 countries in road safety.
Ambassadors of the above-mentioned countries will talk about their countries success stories and best practices.
The presentation of the PSA on Pedestrian safety and reflector promotion campaign will take place as well.
Apart from the Conference on November 14, there will be big street action with the participation of Georgian youth in November 16 in the capital city of Georgia – Tbilisi.
