Nigeria, Abuja, Patvora Initiative, 15 November 2014

Activity 1- Pre Event

In marking the 2014 WDR for Road Crash Victims, PATVORA Initiative has utilized the vast information dissemination prowess of the African media to draw global attention to the sad issue of huge preventable deaths on road crash scenes in Africa. As such, advocacy is being conducted to educate the general public on the efficacy of first aid administration and need for community mobilisation to support existing rescue efforts of National agencies. Also, awareness is being created on the importance of mass training of road users on simple first aid skills and essence of an urgent call on policy makers and governments in Africa to speedily implement a National First-Did policy as recommended by 2007 Accra Declaration and endorsed by African governments. The PATVORA Initiative has captured all these relevant issues in a comprehensive write-up titled ‘Road Traffic Victims and enhanced community rescue efforts in Africa’. The article written by Dr. David Oba, the Co-ordinator of the PATVORA is intended to commemorate 2014 WDR in a unique way and it has been published in many newspapers and journals including:-
