Memorial Ride to the RoadPeace Wood at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire

bike2life are planning to ride to the RoadPeace Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum on Sunday 17th November 2013. The expectation is that the ride will start from Four Oaks Baptist Church between 9.30am and 10.00am to arrive at the Arboretum in time for a memorial event at 1pm.

The bike2life ride will start from: Four Oaks Baptist Church, Grange Lane, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B75 5JX

Other cyclists may wish to start in their own locality and meet at the National Memorial Arboretum for the memorial event at 1:00pm.

The Road Peace Wood

The National Memorial Arboretum was founded by David Childs as a place where thelives of people could be remembered by living trees that would grow and mature in a world at peace. It is a 150 acre site on the edge of the National Forest at Alrewas,Staffordshire. Planting began in 1997 and plots and groves have been created for armed and merchant services, police and emergency services and many groups, associations andindividuals. The site also celebrated the turn of a new century and the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness offers tranquillity and reflection for all. The RoadPeace Wood is part of this memorial with trees that are individually sponsored to remember those whohave lost their lives or been injured because of a road crash. Planting of trees in theRoadPeace Wood began in spring 2001 and the wood was dedicated on 10 August 2002.
