“World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR)”

Day 1- Monday 14th Nov. 2016
Lunching ceremony at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building – this event will bring together state functionaries, Civil Society Groups, and stakeholders in the transport sector. It will be followed by the singing of the Road Safety Pledge.
Day 2 – Tuesday 15th Nov. 2016
Inter Secondary School debate. A total of 10 secondary schools will be brought together to debate on the issues around the theme.
Day 3 – Wednesday 16th Nov. 2016
Public lecture by Sierra Leone’s foremost pathologist Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma on issues around the theme. This event will be held at the British Council Hall.
Day 4 – Thursday 17th Nov. 2016
Symposium at the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL). Several experts from various fields including legal and medical profession will present papers that will be discussed.
Day 5 – Friday 18th Nov. 2016
Muslim prayers at the Basharia Mosque Bombay
Day 6 – Sunday 20th Nov. 2016
Christian prayers at the All Saints Church, Kissy Road.

“Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority”

The Sierra Leone Road Safety was establish by an act of Parliament in 1996. Between 1996 and 2014 it was known as the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority. Following a cabinet conclusion in 2014 the parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone changed the name from Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority to Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority. The Authority has an enforcement wing known as the Road Safety Corps. This enforcement Team has wide range in powers including clamping of vehicles, towing, issuance of ticket fines, providing road safety education to communities, administering of first aid treatment etc..
