“World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims”
The Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia was interviewed at the ‘Selamat Pagi Malaysia’ National talk show on 15 November 2015. In this slot, he has highlighted about the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims and why it is important to obey the road traffic rules and be a courteous road users. The theme was also highlighted and its messages dissemination was carried out by the branch offices of the Road Safety Department Nationwide through various events such as seminar, exhibition, pledge wall signing etc. These events were supported by a various level of community and the stakeholders.

The Road Safety Department Malaysia
The Road Safety Department Malaysia established in 2004 with an objective to nurture courteous driving behavior among Malaysian road users through campaign and advocacy. Since its establishment, through its influence, the road safety situation has improved with the introduction of multi-disciplinary counter measures such as rear-seat belt law, the road safety education in schools, helmet exchange program and etc. Together with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), the Road Safety Department has launched the Road Safety Plan of Malaysia which is in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. The plan was drafted in a comprehensive way as the goals set in the plan are going to be achieved collectively by various Ministry/Agencies. The Road Safety Department also committed in supporting the global agenda/activities by the United Nations such as commemorating the Road Safety Week, World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims and the Long Short Walk. The Road Safety Department plays an important role at international level as a member of the ASEAN Multi-Sector Road Safety Sub-Group and Chairman of the Road and Rail Safety Sub-Group, APEC Transportation Working Group and etc.
