World Day events will take place in five cities: in Tokyo a candle-lit vigil with the lights of Tokyo Tower in the background switched off, a conference in Hokkaido on Vision Zero, a gathering in Fukushima, where yellow windmills are used as a World Day symbol, in Akita – an event organised by the police, and in Ishinomaki, the scene of many road crashes during the recent tsunami and nuclear disasters, including of a bus with nursery children, of whom five were killed.
