The Irish Road Victims’ Association – IRVA- are holding a special event on Sunday 16th November to mark the ‘World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims’  when we remember all of the precious lives lost and broken on our roads and acknowledge the great work of the emergency services.

We will gather with our Bereaved families, the injured and members of the Emergency services and our colleagues and friends, in the Ennell Suite, Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar at 2pm

Members of the youth orchestra will play for us and our tranquil candle lit ceremony will also include lovely music played by the musicians and beautiful songs from the wonderful vocalists Helen Hassett, Noel Farrell, John Maher, and John Smyth. Specially written and selected prayers, poems and verse will be read by bereaved families, friends and the emergency services.

Following our ceremony, all of those present will be able to float some candles and flowers on the lake and we will release some white doves as a sign of hope for our families and for future safety on the roads. We will then make our way to our Garden of Remembrance in Belvedere where we will place our candles around our ‘Tree of Remembrance’ in Belvedere House and Gardens and families may release balloons in memory of their lost loved ones and all of the precious lives lost on our roads.

Families are requested to bring a framed photo of their lost loved ones with them, which will be placed on a remembrance table during the ceremony. Everything else needed for your participation in the ceremony will be provided free of charge.

IRVA designs new scrolls and a Wall of Remembrance, which includes photos of our lost loved ones, prior to our World day of Remembrance event every year. It assists us in highlighting the human impact of road traffic collisions – each one of our beloved family members and friends are much more than just a number to their families, friends, colleagues and community.
