The Kerala Motor Vehicles Department responsible for enforcement of road laws and Road safety under the Ministry of Transport in Kerala State, have issued directives to all their 83 offices across the state to conduct programmes to observe the World Day of
Remembrance 2013.

The prepared poster will be exhibited in all department offices across the State, in driving schools and at petrol pumps from 10^thNovember. Also planned are house visits to victims to provide possible help in each area through sponsorships from vehicle sellers and manufacturers.

Light of Hope ceremonies with prayers for victims are also planned.

The above programme is funded by the government.  A state-level programme-inauguration is scheduled for 17^th November at Palakkad.

The Transport Minister Mr Aryadan Mohammed will inaugurate the function and Member of Parliament MR MB Rajesh, Member of Legislative Assembly Mr Shafi Parambil and Transport Commissioner and Road Safety Commissioner will deliver speeches. Members of the public, NGOs and all related organizations are invited to this event, which is funded by the Kerala Road Safety Authority.

Dr Mohammed Najeeb, Regional Transport officer and Leader of R&D team for road safety at Kerala Road Safety Authority writes:

This work resulted in the reduction of deaths and injuries in our state at least by 5 to 10 %.”
