“World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims”

Praça da Juventude Thiago Gonzaga (Thiago Gonzaga’s Youth Square)

Since 2000, Porto Alegre has a place to think about life. The name of the Youth Square Thiago Gonzaga was approved unanimously by the City Council.
The square has sculpture by artist Hidalgo Adams a benchmark in homage to young people who lost their lives in traffic. At the foot of the work is the following sentence: “May the joy of the youth of our children, with their broken dreams, it is a milestone in the fight against violence and the death of young people.”
On May 19, 2001 we opened the first memorial with the names of young men who lost their lives. Each year, the World Day of Victims of Traffic, is inaugurated a new board. This year, we will hold the event on 14 November, with the participation of family, of Thiago Gonzaga’s staff and a whole unveiling ceremony
